When the Inn On The Green was run by Mick And Jackie Hill, they supported many bands. Greene King own the pub and no budget was made available for live music. However, Mick, a drummer himself, wanted to have live music in the pub, so would fund gigs out of his own pocket, and always let regulars who were musicians play. Many bands debuted at the pub, and considered The Inn On The Green to be their "home" venue.
An annual day-long event called Hagfest was also held at The Inn On The Green for many years.
Around 2009/2010, a popular open mic night also ran.
Live music flourished at the Inn On The Green for many years, until Greene King refurbished the pub and tried to market it as some sort of gastropub, building a "wine wall" across the front of the area previously used as a stage in order to prevent future gigs, and soon after Mick and Jackie were replaced by Greene King with new staff.
